What's Cellulite?

Formation of Cellulite:

Cellulite is a term used to describe the dimpled appearance of skin caused by fat cells that are just below the surface of the skin.

Cellulite is also known as adiposis edematosa, status protrusus cutis, dermopanniculosis deformans, and gynoid lipodystrophy in the medical field and as orange peel syndrome, hail damage, cottage cheese skin, and the mattress phenomenon informally.

Main Causes:

  • Genetics - certain genes are required for cellulite development. Genes may predispose an individual to particular characteristics associated with cellulite, such as gender, race, distribution of fat just underneath the skin, slow metabolism, and circulatory insufficiency.

  • Hormonal factors - many believe estrogen, insulin, noradrenaline, thyroid hormones, and prolactin are part of the cellulite production process.
  • Diet - people who eat too much fat, carbohydrates, or salt and too little fiber are likely to have greater amounts of cellulite.

  • Lifestyle factors - cellulite may be more prevalent in smokers, those who do not exercise, and those who sit or stand in one position for long periods of time.

Almost 90% of women over 20-year old no matter they are lean, average or obesed despite their age, weight, size and appearance are affected by cellulite.

    Distribution of Cellulite:

Cellulite mainly occurs on arms, thighs, abdomen, buttocks and calves.

    Different Stages of Cellulite:

What's BFI (Body Fat Index)?

BFI
refers to BMI of segmental parts of body. I
t specifies Back Arm’s BMI / Abdomen’s BMI / Waist ‘BMI /
Back Thigh’s BMI / Front Thigh’s BMI

For example:
Your BMI is 22, which is normal. In general (weight and height check) is fine.

But BFI can more deeply specify your Abdomen's BMI is 30.
So, your abdomen is regarded as obesity index 1. You should do exercise focus on your abdomen locally.

You can find the data of different parts of BMI on body. So, “BFI” provides figure and body balance data. It helps to provide more accurate advice in details to customers.

BFI (Body Fat Index) instead of BMI (Body Mass Index)

The calculation of BMI is only relying on weight and height. (BMI=Weight (kg)height () )

But if two people have the same BMI, one person has big abdomen, the other one has
big arms and legs. It is related to their lifestyle.
BMI is not reflected body fat at all. Therefore, it is too general to provide counseling according to only BMI for body balance details.

Only data of weight and fat percentage is insufficient for detailed counseling.  It shows only obesity level but it cannot find out the body balance for different local part of body.

BFI meausre includes fat thickness of 5 parts of our body besides, weight and height and specific data defined by ultrasound.

It shows clearly where the fat thickness is most distributing at and how
the body balance is.  “BFI” can also find the figure and body balance so as to let you provide much more comprehensive advice professionally to the subjects more in details.
